First, let us introduce ourselve to you.
My name is Tatyana. I am a 25 years old student in Germany. After I finished my master in psychology, I started the “International Master of Environmental Sciences” as a second degree at the University of Cologne. I have decided to pursue a second Master’s program because I want to specialize in the interface between environment/climate change and communication/psychology. If you have any questions or comments, you can always reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Why are we doing this blog series?
We are currently doing a class project on Environmental Communication using the form of written blog articles. The main reason for this particular form is to demonstrate the power of mass amateurization and the change of the communications ecosystem under the influence of rising digital media. Another important reason why we choose to do environmental journalism is that we would like to become environmental “fighters”, while writing with our actual situation, from our own narratives. We wish to raise awareness of environmental issues from the perspective of journalists as news media is now one of the most important information sources for the public. With the acknowledgement that neither of us is a professional journalist, we also approach environmental journalism from a rather amateur way, trying to combine professionalism with civil journalism and meet the criteria of good journalism.
While one of the importance reasons is course communication, our internal motivations are also powering us to write and contribute to the site.
We hope you will enjoy your reading. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
